The affected floor mats may move and possibly interfere with the accelerator pedal.
The floor mat could shift such that it could interfere with the accelerator pedal, preventing its return to an idle position, which could result in unintended vehicle speeds, increasing the risk of a crash.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, SHE WAS STRUCK BY ANOTHER VEHICLE FROM THE FRONT AND REAR PASSENGER SIDES, CAUSING THE CONTACT TO CRASH INTO A POLE. UPON IMPACT, THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE CHIN, HANDS, AND FINGERS AND A PASSENGER SUSTAINED MINOR KNEE AND SHOULDER INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND WAS NOT DIAGNOSED FOR THE AIR BAG FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 93,000.

IT REMAINS ON PERMANENTLY ANYTIME THE KEY IS "ON". IT HAPPENED WITHOUT WARNING ON A SMOOTH HIGHWAY IN GOOD WEATHER. THE INFORMATION SCREEN DID NOT GIVE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION, AND THE ONBOARD COMPUTER DIAGNOSTICS DOES NOT ADDRESS THE SITUATION.
