Due to the failure, other motorist were forced to swerve around the cover to avoid contact with the road obstruction. The contact called a dealer(Toyota of Southern Maryland) where they order the part to repair the vehicle. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure and the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for further assistance. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 3,000.
