Previously, the affected vehicles may have had their master power window switch module treated with a protective coating, instead of having it replaced.
The protective coating may not eliminate the risk that the circuit board could short and result in a fire, even while the vehicle is unattended.

ON VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH HYDRO-BOOST POWER BRAKES, IT COULD ALSO RESULT IN LOSS OF POWER BRAKE ASSIST AND INCREASED BRAKING EFFORT WOULD BE REQUIRED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS 2006 BUICK RAINIER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE ENGINE SERVICE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE FUEL GAUGE REGISTERED AN INACCURATE READING OF ZERO. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHENEVER THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THEY REPLACED THE FUEL GAUGE SENSOR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 54,414.
I WAS JUST INFORMED OF A RECALL ON MY ABOVE LISTED VEHICLE. PLEASE NOTE THAT MY FUEL GAUGE WAS NOT READING CORRECTLY AS IT WAS DISPLAYING EMPTY WHILE THE TANK WAS FULL. I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO MY GM DEALER IMMEDIATELY TO DIAGNOSE AND REPAIR. IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE FUEL SENDER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE TOTAL REPAIR COST ME $571.77 WHICH INCLUDED PARTS AND LABOR. WHO DO I NEED TO SEND A CLAIM TO IN ORDER TO BE REIMBURSED AS THIS REPAIR IS NOW CONSIDERED A RECALL?
