Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2011-2012 Ford F-150 trucks, 2012 Ford Expedition, Lincoln Navigator, and Ford Mustang vehicles. The affected vehicles are equipped with an automatic transmission that may unexpectedly downshift to first gear, regardless of vehicle speed.
An unexpected downshift into first gear can cause the vehicle to slow down suddenly without warning and the rear tires may slide or lock, increasing the risk of a crash.

I HAVE A 6 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION. IT WILL NOT GO INTO 2ND GEAR SOMETIMES AND WHEN IT DOES IT'S NOTCHY AND CLUNKY (SOMETIME IT'S SMOOTH BUT RARE). UNDER HARDER ACCELERATION IT WILL NOT GO INTO 2ND GEAR AT ALL. IT DOES NOT GRIND OR ANYTHING. IT JUST WON'T GO IN. IT'S LIKE HITTING A WALL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WHERE THE TECHNICIANS WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE A FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100.
