The affected floor mats may move and possibly interfere with the accelerator pedal.
The floor mat could shift such that it could interfere with the accelerator pedal, preventing its return to an idle position, which could result in unintended vehicle speeds, increasing the risk of a crash.

I HAD TO REPLACE THE BRAKE BOOSTER,CV BOOTS, MASTER CYLINDER ROTORS AND BRAKES. ALL TO THE TUNE OF 2,000. I HAD NO WARNING. NO LIGHTS IN THE DASH CAME ON OR ANYTHING. I WAS GOING DOWN A HILL AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THERE WERE NO BRAKES. I HAVE HAD CARS AND DROVE THEM FOR OVER 200,000 MILES AND I HAVE NEVER HAD TO REPLACE ALL THIS STUFF ON A CAR. THIS MERCURY HAS COST ME SO MUCH MONEY. ITS NOT LIKE ITS A MERCEDES OR BMW. NOTHING ON THIS CAR IS CHEAP TO GET FIXED. I HAVE REPLACED THE BRAKES OVER 20 TIMES AND THE CAR IS ONLY 6 YEARS OLD. WITHOUT WARNING, TRANSMISSION DISENGAGES, SLIPS, AND SUDDENLY JERKS INTO GEAR CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO LUNGE FORWARD, SOMETIMES FORCEFUL ENOUGH TO POSSIBLY LOSE CONTROL. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 MERCURY MILAN. THE DOOR HANDLE ON THE REAR DRIVER SIDE WAS CRACKED. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO UNLOCK THE DRIVER'S DOOR FROM INSIDE THE VEHICLE; SHE HAD TO ROLL THE WINDOWS TO UNLOCK THE DOOR. THE CONTACT CALLED AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO STATED THAT THEY WOULD NEEDED TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. SHE ALSO CALLED THE MANUFACTURER BUT WAS TOLD THAT BECAUSE THE VEHICLE HAD NO OPEN RECALLS, THEY COULD OFFER NO ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 52,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 53,000.
