2011 Buick Lacrosse

No clear pattern

12.8% of complaints about the 2011 Buick Lacrosse arrived in its first year of service. That is an unusual figure for a 2011 vehicle, but with only 243 complaints on record the sample is too small to call it a pattern — the margin of error covers the range where ordinary vehicles sit. The figures below are reported without a verdict. The most-reported system is electrical system (32 complaints), typically at 5.1 yr or about 55,355 miles.

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2011-2012 Buick LaCrosse, Regal and Chevrolet Camaro, as well as certain 2010-2012 Cadillac SRX, Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain vehicles, equipped with power height adjustable driver and passenger seats. In the affected vehicles, the bolt that secures the driver's and passenger's power front seat height adjuster may fall out causing the seat to drop suddenly to the lowest vertical position.

If the driver's seat unexpectedly drops, the distraction and altered seat position may affect the drivers' control of the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

GENERAL MOTORS IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2011 BUICK LACROSSE AND CADILLAC SRX VEHICLES FOR FAILING TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 103, "WINDSHIELD DEFROSTING AND DEFOGGING SYSTEMS". ON THESE VEHICLES, THE SOFTWARE IN THE ELECTRONIC CLIMATE CONTROL (ECC) MODULE MAY DISABLE THE ABILITY TO ADJUST THE HEATING, VENTILATION, AND AIR CONDITIONING (HVAC) SYSTEM SETTINGS. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 BUICK LACROSSE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 8 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESTART AND WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE TECHNICIAN REPLACED THE FAULTY POWER SENSOR; HOWEVER, THREE WEEKS AFTER THE REPAIR, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO LOCATE THE ISSUE. IN ADDITION, THERE WAS EXCESSIVE HESITATION WHENEVER DRIVING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,000.

I WAS DRIVING OUR BUICK LACROSSE WITH 3036 MILES ON IT, AT 58 MPH, WHEN THE WHEEL BEGAN TO JERK BACK & FORTH VIOLENTLY. I WAS SKIDDING DOWN THE ROAD UNABLE TO STEER. I WAS ABLE TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND EVENTUALLY HAVE THE CAR TOWED IN. THE RIGHT REAR TIE ROD BOLT HAD BROKEN. WHEN THIS HAPPENED THE SUSPENSION CONTROL ARM WAS BENT. BOTH PARTS HAVE BEEN REPLACED.. WE WERE TOLD THEY HAD NOT SEEN THIS HAPPEN BEFORE AND NO EXPLANATION AS TO WHAT WOULD HAVE MADE IT HAPPEN. *TR
