(Kia) is recalling certain 2016-2022 Sorento, 2021-2022 Sorento Hybrid (HEV), 2022-2023 Sorento Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV), and 2017-2022 Sportage vehicles equipped with a tow hitch harness installed as original equipment, or purchased as an accessory through a Kia dealership. Debris and moisture accumulation on the tow hitch harness module printed circuit board (PCB) may cause an electrical short, which can result in a fire.
A fire while parked or driving can increase the risk of injury.
Engine will not start consistently. Will take two to four attempts to start, and engine will sputter when it finally does catch and start. Electrical equipment not affected (battery inspected twice). The car will also randomly jerk and/or speed up when driving.

The vehicle was not diagnosed. The fire department was able to extinguish the fire. A fire report was filed. The fire inspector stated that the fire was started from under the hood of the vehicle. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 5,000.
The car turns off while driving. This is happened four times the first time. Kia told me in Berkeley nothing was wrong. The car started back up bring it back. If it happens again it happened again. They have had the car for over a month. The car will not start. It has not been looked at and told me that thereâs other cars itâs been there for over a month. I wouldnât be so mad my daughters on Chemo I have to have a car thatâs reliable to get her there and a dealership that cares this is scary couldâve killed us.
